This past school year, Emily and Haley had the amazing opportunity to volunteer weekly at Special Needs Mutual. I've never been so excited to drive a group of teens each Thursday to this activity. And the rides home were even better as each girl would talk about their "buddy" and the great/funny/crazy things that happened each week. Sadly, the program was discontinued this year, but it left a lasting impression on both of them. Emily signed up to be a peer tutor at the high school and loves working with kids her age who were born with physical or mental disabilities. Haley can't wait to be a peer tutor, but the class isn't offered to sophomores. She's planning to participate in tutoring next year.
